Spiritual Warfare
As a youngster, I’d go to the state fair and I had one goal: to make it to the roller coaster. The roller coaster was a rolling, twisting, turning ride. It wasn’t a ride for the weak of stomach. Guaranteed to be the fastest moving ride in the state fair, all I wanted to do was strap in and take the ride. As I hurried toward the ride, I was besieged by carnival workers who wanted to guess my weight and age, others would appeal to my ego saying I wasn’t man enough to use a wooden hammer to hit a spring board to make a bell ring at the top of the pole, and others wanted me to throw a ball at a target or toss a coin into a plate—all for the chance to win a prize. With all of these enticements, I realized I needed to stay focused on my goal. I couldn’t allow myself to be side tracked from that roller coaster.
Temptation is much the same. It’s the option of two choices. You can stay on track with the Lord’s plan for your life, or you can be lured away by the hundreds of voices calling for your attention. Believe me today when I say we are in a war, and you don’t have to be a believer very long to realize we are in an all-out battle with the forces of hell.
